DumoLab led by Dr. Laia Mogas-Soldevila is honored to participate in “Biogenic Futures: Women Shaping Material Ecologies”, upcoming exhibit by the CU Boulder Art Museum and Biomodernity Lab honoring and amplifying the work of women leading innovation on materials research, with a focus on environmental design, ecology, and experimental methods.
As the climate crisis challenges the viability of conventional material systems, we highlight the transformative potential of biomaterials and their capacity to reshape our built environment through care, resilience, and innovation. This exhibition proposes a reorientation of design culture toward stewardship and co-creation, fostering collaboration across disciplines and institutions. By bridging the gap between research and application, artists in this exhibition catalyze new partnerships, advance open source experimentation, and celebrate the under-recognized leadership of women in this vital field. Samples form our research on TEGULA, TERRENE, EGGREGATE and BAGASEAT will be shown there along with the incredible work and diverse perspectives on biodesign by Sabin Lab, Format Lab, The Natural Materials Lab, Biomatters, Living Matter Lab, Nova Terra, Entangled Ecologies Lab, Wild Futures Lab, Edna W Laurence Nature Lab and others.
Work by research leads: Eda Begum Birol (Arch PhD), Yasaman Amirzehni (MSD-AAD), Bhavana Priya Balasubramanian (MSD-AAD), and Yuanyi Cen (MArch & MLA).
On display: September 5th to December 9th 2025, CU Boulder Art Museum (Visual Arts Complex 1085 18th Street Boulder, CO).
