Collection 188: Julian F. Abele papers
Abele was the first African-American to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania Department of Architecture. He was Chief Designer for the distinguished Philadelphia architect Horace Trumbauer beginning in 1909, and he continued the firm after Trumbauer’s death in 1938.
The collection a small variety of items related to Abele's life. Of note are four watercolor sketches made by Abele during a trip made to Europe between 1902-1906.
