Fall 2021 Final Reviews IT Info
Dear Students,
As we head into the final stretch of the Fall semester and prepare for final reviews, Weitzman IT would like to remind you of the following resources and recommendations. Plan early to make sure you are able to have any reserved equipment and printed material available in time for your presentations! Do not wait until the last minute.
Printing and Plotting
- For detailed information about printer access including pricing, location and access please visit the Printing & Scanning page.
- If you have never plotted before YOU NEED TO TAKE THE MANDATORY PLOTTING QUIZ in advance and be approved for access.
- Several studios have designated printing liaisons who are available to help address supplies and basic printing support after hours.
- Print early!
- **Note** Due to the ongoing Microsoft security issues with network printing, all printing jobs need to be sent from a print station or Lab computer. There are 30 stations available for this process located in the 321 and 324 computer labs in Meyerson Hall. Studios will have dedicated computers and print stations are available on the 2nd and 3rd floors of Meyerson Hall.
- Some helpful tips to remember:
- Follow a PDF work flow, make sure you have formatted your files properly before sending to prevent printing errors.
- Do not attempt to plot jpegs
- Save your file locally (typically the D drive on a lab computer), do not print from a web browser or external drive.
- Print one page at a time when sending multi-page pdfs.
- Print early, do not wait until the morning of your review. When the print server gets inundated with jobs, there will be bottlenecking issues with long delays.
- Always check the plotter name you would like to send to before printing, we have paper changes from the usual line up for finals so always check the plotter and the website before sending - https://www.design.upenn.edu/it/printers-pricing
Cloud Storage Resources
- Make sure you are using these resources in case you have issues with your personal device! Your data will be accessible in case of a hardware issue!
- Penn+Box: Cloud Based collaboration service available to all full-time faculty, staff and students.
- Microsoft O365 One Drive: Cloud based collaboration service available with O365 accounts.
