Dear Students,
We hope you’ve had a great summer! As the start of the 2025–26 academic year approaches, Weitzman IT would like to provide some important information to help you prepare for the fall semester. If you have any questions, please email ithelp@design.upenn.edu or stop by the IT Help Desk (M–F, 9 AM–5 PM, Meyerson Hall 3rd Floor).
Accounts
- PennKey – Your virtual ID for University-wide and Weitzman IT services such as Canvas, Zoom, AirPennNet, LinkedIn Learning, course registration, Student Financial Services, library resources, and more. You will also use it to log into Weitzman lab/public computers in Meyerson Hall and Addams Hall.
- PennKey Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR): Enroll here so you can reset your password without IT support.
- PennO365 Account & Email – Provisioned after PennKey setup; shares the same password as your PennKey. If you do not yet have access, please contact ithelp@design.upenn.edu.
Important:
- All Weitzman resources use PennKey credentials only.
Two-Step Verification
Required for both PennKey and PennO365. Please enroll here if you haven’t already.
- We strongly recommend using Duo Mobile and enabling Duo Push, which works without Wi-Fi or cell service.
Computer Recommendations
- Your laptop is essential for coursework and research. Penn-preferred vendors offer academic pricing on configured laptops. See recommendations and details at Computer Recommendations.
Software
- Information about available applications (including Adobe subscriptions) can be found on our Software page.
- Sophos Home: Free antivirus software for up to 10 devices. Download Sophos here.
Cloud Storage
- PennBox – Collaboration and file sharing.
- Microsoft OneDrive (O365) – Integrated with your O365 account.
Designify (Onboarding Course)
- All students are automatically enrolled in Designify, a Canvas course covering accounts, software, security, and IT resources.
- You can access the course with your PennKey.
- If you have trouble accessing the course, email ithelp@design.upenn.edu.
Computer Labs
- Meyerson 321 & 324 are open 24/7 for graduate students.
- Login with your PennKey credentials.
- Primarily for teaching, but open for student use when available.
- Schedules are posted outside each room and online.
- Please be respectful of shared spaces: log off and tidy up before leaving
Printing
- Details on access, available devices, media types, and costs can be found here: Printing & Scanning. Please note that you must take and pass the plotting quiz before access to large format printing will be given.
LinkedIn Learning
- Available for free to all Weitzman students. Offers tutorials from beginner to advanced levels across many topics, skills, and software. Access LinkedIn Learning.
