We have letter and tabloid-size printers as well as large-format plotters available for Weitzman students, staff, and faculty.
Please review the information on this page and the linked pages so you are familiar with our processes and where you can access printers & plotters.
You may print your jobs from the Weitzman computer labs or print stations. Wireless printing and printing from personal devices is not supported.
Proper file formatting is required to successfully print in our environment. Review the instructional material we have on our printing webpage for tips on formatting files for printing and plotting.
There is a mandatory Printing and Plotting Quiz you must take and pass to be given access to the Large Format Printers/Plotters. (email us at ithelp@design.upenn.edu once you have completed the quiz, and restrictions will be removed before noon the next business day.)
All active Weitzman users are given access to our public laser printers and standard copy printer in Meyerson Hall. Completion of the plotting quiz is not required for this type of printing.
If you have any questions, concerns, or special requests in regards to printing and scanning, please contact ithelp@design.upenn.edu so that we may address and assist.

Connecting to Printers/Plotters & Submitting Print Jobs
In order to send your job to a chosen printer you must add the printer from the print server. To learn more about connecting to printers on the Weitzman network, please visit our page about Adding Printers.
Quick Tips for Plotting
Here is a quick tip list to help prevent common mistakes at the print stations and lab computers.
Before opening and printing, please move your file from the external drive or web storage folder to the desktop.
To print your files use Adobe Reader or Acrobat, select the correct print driver from the list. Uncheck the "Print to PDF page size" box, create a custom page size if needed, and choose "Auto Rotate" in Layout/Output to save paper.
Keep your file under 500 MB. If the file says “flattening” or takes a long time to process before printing, check the file size and formatting in Adobe Photoshop. Adjust the resolution to 150dpi to make the file size more manageable for printing.
During finals, allow extra time for printing and avoid waiting until the last minute. Print servers and printers experience high traffic during final reviews, leading to long print queues and delays, even if everything is done correctly.
Check the print queues for the printer with the fewest jobs and send your print there. Do not send your print job to multiple plotters in an attempt to finish it faster. You will be responsible for the cost of all printed jobs, regardless of when they are completed.
Weitzman ITS has several locations within Meyerson Hall and Addams Hall for you to scan your work. Scanners include flatbed scanning up to 11x17 inches and feed scanning up to 36 inches. It is important that you read the specifications for each scanner before scanning work. Please take a look at this page for a list of our Available Scanners and scanning stations, with instructions.
