Fabrication Lab

The Fabrication Lab serves as a practical laboratory extension of classroom theory. The Lab is equipped for all phases of woodworking, metalworking, and machining, as well as digital fabrication with CNC routing, laser cutting, and 3D printing. The lab is available to all University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design students and to all students enrolled in ancillary Weitzman courses.

The lab is directed by Dennis Pierattini. He and his staff welcome your design and fabrication related inquiries.

Shop / Laser Hours

Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 7:00pm
Friday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
Saturday - Sunday: 11:00am - 6:00pm

CNC Milling / 3D Printing Hours

Please review the schedule posted in the Lab for current hours of operation.

Spring 2023

The last day for submitting CNC Milling and 3D Printing files for this semester will be Thursday, May 11. The Lab will be closed from Monday, May 15, through Sunday, May 21.

Summer 2023

Throughout the summer, the Lab will be closed except by appointment only, and for student academic work only.  Please contact Dennis Pierattini, the Lab Director, at dennis2@design.upenn.edu to arrange appointment times.

Safety Course

You must complete the online Lab Safety Course Module before you may use the Lab. Use this link to access the module in Workday. Please contact Dennis Pierattini with any questions concerning this training.  Representations of previous experience cannot be accepted in lieu of completion of this safety course.
