The Fabrication Lab serves as a practical laboratory extension of classroom theory. The Lab is divided between three main areas: traditional fabrication, laser cutting, and CNC milling/3D printing, and are staffed differently in those three areas. The lab is equipped for all phases of traditional woodworking, traditional metalworking and machining, as well as digital fabrication with laser cutting, CNC routing, and 3D printing. The lab is available to all University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design students and to all students enrolled in ancillary Weitzman courses. All eligible students must complete the mandatory Safety Course in order to utilize any of the Lab's resources.
-You must complete the online Lab Safety Course Module in Workday before you may enter the Lab and use any of its resources.
*Important!*: You must log in to Workday and activate your learning account in order to access the Safety Course (Workday homepage -> Announcements -> Activate Learning Account). 'Announcements' are found on the 'Home' tab. There should be a bubble (window) on the right titled 'Announcements'. Please check there and click the arrow to scroll through the announcements. There might be a learner activation prompt there. After activating you may need to refresh the browser or open the course in a new browser to jumpstart the action. If you do not see the activation prompt in 'Announcements,' it may already be activated.
