Fall 2025 Important Information for Faculty

Dear Faculty,

Welcome back! Below is important IT information for the upcoming academic year:


Courseware

  • Canvas – Information about the Learning Management System for faculty, staff, and TAs: Canvas Login
    • Reminder: If you plan to use Canvas for your Fall 2025 course, you must submit a request to have your course site created: Request a New Canvas Site

Communication

  • O365 Email – All Weitzman affiliates (including faculty, instructors, and lecturers) receive an O365 account for official communications. Learn more here.
  • Design-Faculty Mailing List - All faculty, lecturers, and instructors are automatically subscribed;  official announcements from Weitzman will be distributed here.
  • Departmental Messages – Sent directly by your department.
  • Classlists – Provided by ISC and the Registrar to allow you to email all registered students in a course. Each department has access to its own classlists. More info here.
  • WISH (Weitzman Information and Services HUB): A secure, PennKey-protected Sharepoint site that centralizes handbooks, forms, and resources for faculty and staff, providing 24/7 answers to common policies and procedures.

Cloud Storage


Printing

  • Small-format laser printers and large-format plotters are available to all Weitzman users. 
  • Details on access, devices, and media types are available on the Weitzman ITS website.

Web Conferencing

  • Zoom – All Weitzman faculty, staff, and students have access to university-licensed Zoom accounts. Please use only these accounts, as they are FERPA-compliant and provide full features.
  • Microsoft Teams – Also available to all Weitzman faculty, staff, and students.

AV Resources

  • All fixed AV installations were serviced during summer preventive maintenance.
  • Studios with a ceiling-mounted projector includes an AV bag with an HDMI cable. Please remind students to handle this equipment with care.
  • Projectors can also connect wirelessly (in addition to HDMI). Instructions are projected on the welcome screen when the projectors are powered on.

Computer Labs & Classrooms

  • Central Pool Classroom – Reserve through your department staff using this reservation form.
  • Weitzman computer labs (Meyerson, Addams) may be reserved via this page. Software and schedules are posted for each lab.
  • Authentication: All Weitzman lab and public computers require PennKey login.

Software

  • Visit the Weitzman IT Software Information page for details.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud
    • Graduate students: Free personal license
    • Other students: Discounted licenses available
    • Adobe is also available for free in all Weitzman labs (requires a free Adobe account).

Trainings

LinkedIn Learning

  • Free for all Weitzman faculty.
  • Courses cover a wide range of skills and software from beginner to advanced.
  • Access LinkedIn Learning

AI Trainings


Security

  • Secure Share – For securely exchanging sensitive information within Penn.
  • Sophos Home – Free antivirus software for personal devices (up to 10 installations). Available to all Penn faculty, staff, and students.
