Thomas S. Michener - Le Corbusier Sketches Collection (025), Architect, 1887-1965
Born Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, Le Corbusier worked in the offices of Auguste Perret and for Peter Behrens before establishing his office in Paris. One of the central figures in the evolution of modern architecture, Le Corbusier is remembered for many significant buildings and projects realized throughout Europe, India, Japan and the Americas, as well as for his seminal book Vers une Architecture.
The collection consists of one drawing, signed and dated May 8, 1935, pastel on vellum, 35 x 116 ½ inches. It is not known, at this time, where the drawing was made or what subject it depicts.
