Lindsay Falck Collection (291), Architect, 1934-2020
Born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1934, Lindsay received his architecture training at the University of Cape Town (UCT). After graduating in 1956, Falck taught at UCT while working in private practice and collaborating with with other architects such as Roelof Uytenbogaardt, Revel Fox and Gabriel Fagan. In 1983, Falck started teaching at the University of Pennsylvania, eventually teaching across Penn’s programs in Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Historic Preservation. Falck twice received Penn’s G. Holmes Perkins Award for Distinguished Teaching (2005 & 2013), and taught at the University of Pennsylvania until March 2020.
The Lindsay Falck collection includes student drawings from Falck's time at the University of Cape Town, including his thesis project – a hydroelectric station on the Zambezi River. Also in the collections are drawings, correspondence and teaching materials from his time at the University of Pennsylvania.
