Norman Morrison Isham Collection (055), Architect, 1864-1943
Norman Isham was a Rhode Island architect and author known for his study and restoration of colonial buildings. He worked for six years in the Providence architectural firm of Stone, Carpenter & Wilson before he established his own office in 1893. Isham collaborated with Albert F. Brown on two important books, Early Rhode Island Houses and Early Connecticut Houses.
The collection comprises one architectural rendering, signed and dated 1893, thought to be Isham’s design for the Newport Country Club, a competition won by Whitney Warren.
