Allen Evans Collection (099), Architect, 1849-1925
Allens Evans worked at Furness & Hewitt, which in 1871 was renamed Furness & Evans when Evans was made a full partner with Frank Furness. In 1885, the firm was expanded to become Furness, Evans & Co. Furness was the personality of the firm, while Evans handled the more practical elements. Evans used his connections to bring in projects like the Girard Bank Building and Broad Street Station.
This collection includes Allen Evans' architectural projects, including houses on the property of Edmund C. Evans designed and built for family members. Materials related to architectural projects are found in a project scrapbook of news clippings, and in a small quantity of correspondence, photographs, drawings, and clippings.
